Caring For Your Jewelry
All of our jewelry is cast from sterling silver, which has a natural tendency to oxidize when exposed to light and oxygen. A soft polishing cloth will help to keep it bright and shiny. However, for those pieces that have a matte finish, be aware that polishing too much or too hard may ruin the matte finish.
We do not recommend using metal polishing creams or liquids on our pieces. We have found that more often than not, they degrade the precious metals and ruin the finish of the piece.
MIJA jewelry should be cleaned using a soft toothbrush and warm soapy water. Soaps such as dish detergents restore the finish and brighten up the jewelry. Mix a small amount of dish detergent in your hand with lukewarm water and with a soft toothbrush, lightly clean the jewelry and rinse.
Always avoid harsh detergents and cleaners, especially ammonia and chlorine bleach, as they will degrade the precious metals. For this reason, please remove our jewelry before swimming in chlorinated water.
